Helping You Find A Pathway Of Hope, Healing, And New Life.
Seeking Help: is it a Strength or Weakness?
“Everyone Has Scars, They Just Aren’t As Visible As Yours.” – Anne Eliot
Everyone goes through struggles throughout their lives. Life is not easy. Relationships end. We lose jobs. We fail a test. We lose a loved one. We have money problems. Our children are struggling in school. They get bullied. We get diagnosed with an illness. We think we are ugly. We are too fat or too thin. We are lonely. We are anxious. We are depressed. Life gets so hard at times and sometimes we lose hope. When things get difficult in our lives we want help. We want everything to get better. We just want to be happy.
It is really easy to see our own struggles. We live everyday with our struggles. How often do you see others who struggle? We log on to Facebook and we see all of our friends and family whose lives are striving. How can that be? How can we be hurting so badly but others are perfect? Well, they’re not perfect. Everyone has their struggles but a lot of the time we don’t see them. It’s not “cool” to show your struggles. We feel as though we have to look perfect, say the perfect thing and act as though everything is okay. Society makes us feel as though we have to live up to these unreasonable standards and when we don’t.
Showing your struggles has become a form of weakness and keeping yourself together and powering through your struggles is a form of strength. If that is the case, and if that is how you feel, we are hear to tell you, you have got it all wrong. Struggling is inevitable; we are all going to go through struggles. It is what we do with our struggles, which determines whether we are strong or weak.
Seeking help shows strength! When we ask for help we are taking control of our lives. You are in control of the change and growth you can make to your life. When you take the step and seek help and ask for help you are taking a stand against your struggles. You are showing your struggles who’s boss. Enough is enough. Facing your struggles is not easy. At times it could be quite scary. It takes a strong person to walk into a counseling office. Once you walk into that office you are taking the first step in becoming the best YOU that you can be.
You don’t have to struggle alone. Seek help. Mental health counselors in Palatine offer a safe place when you can come and bring your struggles. Our judgement-free zone will help you relax & open up. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be you.
